Mr. Ademola Bobola, Registrar of the University of Benin, emphasized that effective communication is crucial for institutional excellence, driving collaboration, innovation, and success. He made these remarks on Monday in Benin during the 3rd Annual Registry Lecture at Benson Idahosa University (BIU), where he discussed “Effective Communication as a Catalyst for Promoting Institutional Excellence: The Role of Administrators.”

Bobola argued that effective communication is essential, not optional, for institutions to succeed in today’s fast-paced, interconnected world. It acts as the glue binding collective efforts, ensuring smooth coordination, problem-solving, and ongoing improvement.

He highlighted that effective communication is foundational for a successful and high-ranking university system. It enhances idea exchange, fosters collaboration, and supports a positive learning environment. When students, staff, and faculty communicate well, they share knowledge and perspectives, which leads to better academic results, innovative research, improved services, and a positive atmosphere.

Moreover, effective communication builds trust, resolves conflicts, and creates a sense of community, which are vital for staff and student engagement, retention, and success. In the context of numerous tertiary institutions, universities must use effective communication.
