Herdsmen attack farmer in Borno, sever his hands
A farmer’s hands were chopped off in an incident in Borno State on Friday. The attack occurred in Bassam Galomari village, Gubio II Ward, under Gubio Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism and insurgency expert for the Lake Chad Basin, shared the details on his X handle on Saturday. According to Makama, the violence started when herdsmen with cows entered a farm owned by a local resident. When the farmer tried to remove them from his property, one of the herdsmen resisted and attacked the farmer, cutting off his hands.
The victim was taken to Gubio Hospital and later transferred to Maiduguri Hospital for further treatment. Authorities have declared the area unsafe and advised people to avoid Bassam Galomari Village. Security agencies have been directed to respond to and resolve the situation.
