The Abia State government has refuted recent social media reports claiming that Mr. Goodluck Ubochi, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, has resigned.
Ubochi, who was appointed two weeks ago by Governor Alex Otti, has been the subject of false rumors. Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, dismissed these reports as unfounded and accused members of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other individuals of spreading the misinformation.
Ekeoma stated that both Ubochi and his family were distressed by the false news. “I was shocked and embarrassed by the unfounded report. Even my wife was distressed, but I assured her it was false,” Ekeoma quoted Ubochi as saying.
The Special Adviser also expressed concern over the proliferation of fake news about the state government, urging the public to scrutinize and question reports from opposition sources.
