Kebbi Governor Idris Swears in 21 LG Chairmen and Councillors Within 72 Hours of Election
Seventy-two hours after their election, Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has sworn in 21 Local Government Chairmen and Councillors.
The new Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councillors were elected during local government elections held on August 31, 2024, across Kebbi State.
In his speech following the swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Governor Idris urged the new officials to be transparent and accessible to their constituents.
He emphasized the importance of an open-door policy and encouraged the Chairmen to collaborate closely with their Vice Chairmen and Councillors in managing their councils.
As public servants, the Governor advised them to engage with the community actively and work diligently for the betterment of the people.
“We are making history today, as the APC won in all 21 LGAs. As I mentioned earlier, if goodwill and track records matter, APC’s victory was inevitable,” he stated.
Governor Idris expressed satisfaction with the fair, free, and peaceful conduct of the elections.
The Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Umar Abubakar, administered the oath of office.
Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government, praised the Governor for his dedication to public welfare. Represented by Permanent Secretary Nasiru Kigo, Bala-Tafida also acknowledged the contributions of the APC State Chairman Abubakar Kana-Zuru and other stakeholders.
A statement from Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced that new Hilux vehicles have been provided to the Chairmen to support their official duties.
