Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, for allegedly stabbing her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, to death over a dispute regarding the proceeds of internet fraud.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, stated on Monday while parading the suspect that she was apprehended following a thorough investigation. The suspect, a native of Uzoagba in Ikeduru, Imo State, was found to have fatally stabbed her partner.

It is alleged that the deceased refused to give the suspect her share of 250 million Rupiah from an internet fraud scheme.

According to the Imo State Police Command, “The suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that her partner lured her into internet fraud, also known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.”

The suspect reportedly had a heated argument with the victim on Thursday over the withheld fraud proceeds, during which she used a kitchen knife to stab him. In an attempt to cover up her actions, she wrote a note stating, “you think you can eat my money and go free, I am baba for the boys, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family,” and placed it on the victim’s body before fleeing.

The suspect also revealed that she had been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child with him.
