ICPC Arrests Former Kaduna Governor El-Rufai’s Finance Commissioner at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have arrested Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, the former Commissioner of Finance and Accountant General under the administration of Nasir El-Rufai in Kaduna State. Bada was reportedly detained on Sunday at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos as she attempted to leave the country.

 

The arrest follows suspicions that Bada may have been planning to flee amid ongoing corruption investigations involving both her and former Governor El-Rufai.

ICPC officials had been monitoring her movements after receiving intelligence suggesting she might try to evade questioning.

This arrest is part of a broader probe into several high-ranking officials from El-Rufai’s administration.

 

According to reports from a reliable sources indicate that the investigation focuses on alleged financial mismanagement during their time in office, with multiple officials being scrutinized for their roles.

Recently, the Kaduna State House of Assembly indicted El-Rufai for allegedly embezzling ₦423 billion from the state treasury.

His lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, filed a fundamental rights lawsuit in June to contest the allegations.
