APC Declares Intent to Capture Rivers State Amid Wike and Fubara Conflict
ABUJA, NIGERIA NEWS 247 – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is expressing strong confidence in its ability to gain control of Rivers State in the near future. This assertion was made by the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, during an event in Abuja on Thursday.
Ganduje emphasized the party’s commitment to rebuilding and repositioning its chapter in Rivers State to create a formidable presence in the region.
His remarks came during the official rejoining of Dawari Ibietela George, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), into the APC. This significant move was seen as a boost to the party’s efforts to enhance its influence in Rivers.
During their discussions, Ganduje and other party leaders focused on strategies to revitalize the APC’s structure in Rivers State, aiming to make it a platform that effectively serves the needs of both the local populace and the nation. He underscored the party’s dedication to inclusivity and fairness, promising to embrace diverse interests within the party ranks.
Ganduje lauded George as a “big fish” in the political arena, praising his experience and strategic insight. He expressed confidence that George’s involvement would significantly bolster the APC’s standing in the state.
“Rivers State will be completely APC,” Ganduje declared, assuring George that he would be treated as an equal member alongside others in the party. “We are determined to broaden democracy across the country,” he added.
This announcement comes at a time when tensions are high between the current state governor, Sim Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the APC-led administration.
The ongoing power struggle over control of the party’s structure in Rivers State adds further complexity to the political landscape as the APC seeks to establish a stronger foothold.
