Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Mr. Nwafor Alphonsus Onyeachonam, has warned factional APC chairman Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah to adhere to a court order barring him from office duties.

An Enugu State High Court had previously prohibited Agballah and other members of the State Working Committee (SWC) from fulfilling their official roles following their reported suspension by other SWC members.

Despite this, Agballah convened a stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday at the party’s secretariat in Enugu and suspended the SWC members involved in his suspension.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, Onyeachonam’s leadership denounced Agballah’s actions and declared the suspension of party leaders invalid. The statement called for unity within the party, urging members to come together to strengthen the APC in Enugu State.

Onyeachonam emphasized that the APC is preparing to participate in the 2024 local government elections and vowed to secure all chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 260 wards of Enugu State. He also reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and criticized Agballah for seeking personal gain at the expense of the party’s success.

The statement condemned Agballah’s actions on August 24, 2024, noting that the National Chairman of the APC was not involved in the meeting Agballah organized. It also highlighted that Agballah’s attempt to challenge the court’s jurisdiction in his trial was unsuccessful.

The APC leadership reiterated that the court order restraining Agballah and others from acting as APC executives in Enugu State remains in effect and urged the APC National Secretariat and the public to take note of this development.
