LP calls for the release of South-East chairman
The leadership of the Labour Party has called for the immediate release of its National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Mr. Ceekay Igara, who was reportedly arrested by police on the alleged orders of Abia Governor Dr. Alex Otti.
This demand was articulated in a statement from the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, on Saturday in Abuja.
Olorunfemi explained that Igara was apprehended in Aba while meeting with other party leaders, surrounded by police officers, and taken away without any arrest warrant.
“The Labour Party leadership is completely shocked by this development,” he stated.
Olorunfemi emphasized the need for Igara’s immediate release from police custody, or alternatively, for him to be charged in court within the next 24 hours, as stipulated by law.
