Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian boxer, is on track to seize the opportunity to reclaim his third heavyweight champion title following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to relinquish his IBF heavyweight title. Usyk was granted a waiver from defending his belt in order to challenge Tyson Fury recently. His victory over the Gypsy King in Saudi Arabia by a split decision earned him the undisputed championship title.

He has recently accepted a rematch against Fury scheduled for December 21, however, he will not be putting his IBF title on the line in this bout. Usyk made it public on social media that he will be relinquishing his IBF belt on Tuesday evening, paving the way for Joshua to potentially face fellow Brit Daniel Dubois for the title at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

In a bold move on social platforms, the undefeated Ukrainian fighter Usyk made a public declaration to Anthony and Daniel, acknowledging the significance of the IBF title to them. He confidently stated that on September 21st, he will be gifting them this coveted title. Joshua initially secured a world championship in 2016 and held onto it for three years until his unexpected loss to Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden. Despite regaining his titles six months later, Joshua faced defeat at the hands of Usyk in 2021 and was unable to secure victory in their subsequent rematch.
