Shehu Dikko has been appointed as the chairman of the newly reestablished National Sports Commission (NSC), as reported by NIGERIA NEWS 247. This announcement follows President Bola Tinubu’s decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development on Wednesday, replacing it with the NSC.

Dikko is well-known in the sports community, having gained prominence during his tenure as Chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC), where he oversaw significant advancements in Nigeria’s top-flight football. His leadership during this period was marked by a focus on development and professionalism within the league.

In addition to his role with the LMC, Dikko has served as a consultant to the House of Representatives Sports Committee, further enhancing his reputation as a knowledgeable sports administrator.

The reformed NSC will take on the critical responsibility of managing the country’s sports policies and administration, a role that was previously under the Federal Ministry of Sports Development. This shift reflects the government’s commitment to revitalizing the sports sector in Nigeria and ensuring effective oversight and strategic direction.
