Transfer: Barcelona Midfielder Rejects Move Again, Stays with Hansi Flick’s Side Despite Pressure
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong once again declined to leave the club this summer. Two years ago, De Jong had refused a move to Manchester United despite the club’s attempts to force him out, even after an agreement was reached between the two teams.
His future was a topic of speculation throughout the recent transfer window. Despite struggling with injuries last season, De Jong has remained a key figure in Barcelona’s starting XI and continued to attract interest from top European clubs.
Manchester United, long-time admirers of the 27-year-old, were actively seeking a new midfielder this summer. Barcelona, facing financial difficulties, was reportedly open to selling De Jong to address their financial issues. However, De Jong rejected all offers and chose to stay at the La Liga club.
United eventually secured Manuel Ugarte from PSG. De Jong, content at Barcelona, expressed his desire to play under new manager Hansi Flick.
