Williams Troost-Ekong made a triumphant return to action by scoring the decisive goal in PAOK’s 3-2 victory over Bosnian side Borac Banja Luka in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie. This marked his first competitive appearance since Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final against host nation Côte d’Ivoire.

After being sidelined for approximately five months due to an injury sustained during the AFCON tournament, Troost-Ekong showcased his skill by netting the winning goal in the 51st minute, breaking a 2-2 deadlock.

The second leg of the tie is set to take place on Wednesday, July 31, with the aggregate winner progressing to the third round of the competition.
