Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has commented on Luka Modric’s goal for Real Madrid against Poland in their UEFA Nations League match on Sunday.
Modric netted the only goal in Croatia’s 1-0 victory over Poland at the Opus Arena. This win came after Croatia’s 2-1 defeat to Portugal and Poland’s 3-2 triumph over Scotland in their previous games.
Modric, the Croatian captain, scored a brilliant free-kick from just outside the box in the 52nd minute, securing all three points for his team. Despite creating several chances, Croatia could not extend their lead and had to withstand a late push from Poland.
After the match, Lewandowski shared his thoughts on Modric’s goal with reporters, saying (via Madrid Xtra): “Modrić scored from a very tight angle. Sometimes it’s more challenging to score from such positions, but his shot was flawless. Our goalkeeper didn’t even see the ball. It’s hard to predict such a goal, but that’s football—sometimes you score, and sometimes you concede a goal like that.”
