Bulgaria booked their place in the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship final with a commanding 3-1 win over Czechia, securing their sixth world medal and moving one step closer to a historic first gold.
Aleksandar Nikolov led the charge with a sensational 31-point performance, backed by Aleks Grozdanov (12 points) and Asparuh Asparuhov (10). Despite tallying 28 unforced errors, Bulgaria proved dominant in every key area—outscoring Czechia in attack (56–49), blocks (12–7), and aces (8–4).
Czechia fought valiantly, with Lukas Vasina posting 17 points, supported by Jan Galabov (13) and Patrik Indra (10). However, they couldn’t match Bulgaria’s consistency and firepower, falling 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.
“We are medalists and I can’t believe it!” said an elated Nikolov. “Tomorrow we will try to color the medal in gold.”
Czech captain Adam Zajicek reflected on the effort: “We gave everything, but Bulgaria was better. Tomorrow is another fight, and we want a medal.”
Bulgaria now awaits the final with their sights firmly set on the top of the podium.
