Apple seeks Google market share with launch of Apple Maps on Beta
Apple, the prominent American technology company, revealed its plans to introduce Apple Maps on the web on July 24, aiming to compete with Google in the search engine market.
The platform will offer users navigation for both driving and walking, along with access to valuable details such as images, operating hours, ratings, and reviews of various locations.
Additionally, users will be able to perform tasks like ordering food directly from the Maps interface and explore specially curated Guides that highlight dining, shopping, and sightseeing options in cities globally.
This project will ultimately enable individuals globally to access Maps directly through their web browsers, removing the need for a third-party server or browser to use Apple Maps.
By offering Apple Maps online, the company aims to create a more adaptable and user-friendly navigation service, which could draw users away from popular rivals such as Google Maps.
Users will now be able to obtain driving and walking directions, discover appealing locations and valuable information like photos, operating hours, ratings, and reviews; take actions such as ordering food directly from the Maps place card; and explore curated Guides showcasing places to eat, shop, and visit in cities worldwide.
The tech giant has also mentioned that more features, including Look Around, will roll out in the upcoming months.
