Elon Musk Predicts AI Takeover of Jobs, Sees Potential Upside

During a tech conference on Thursday, Elon Musk expressed his belief that artificial intelligence (AI) would eventually render most jobs obsolete – a prospect he doesn’t necessarily view as negative.

Musk envisioned a future where AI and robots would handle the majority of tasks, making traditional employment optional. He emphasized the importance of establishing a system of “universal high income,” although he didn’t provide specific details on how this would differ from universal basic income (UBI).

According to Musk, this AI-driven future would ensure an abundance of goods and services, with jobs becoming more akin to hobbies. However, he raised questions about the potential impact on individuals’ sense of purpose and fulfillment in a job-free society.

Despite his concerns, Musk acknowledged the invaluable role of humans in providing meaning to AI-driven systems. He also cautioned against the pervasive influence of social media on children, warning of the dangers of being “programmed by a dopamine-maximizing AI.”

MEusk’s remarks come amidst ongoing discussions about the ethical implications and societal impacts of AI advancement, with experts debating its potential to reshape industries and labor markets.
