Indonesian Mother of Four Found Swallowed by Python
A woman was discovered dead inside a python that had swallowed her whole in central Indonesia, a local official reported on Saturday.
Farida, a 45-year-old from Kalempang village in South Sulawesi province, was found inside a reticulated python measuring around five meters (16 feet) on Friday by her husband and local residents.
The mother of four had gone missing on Thursday night, prompting a search, according to village head Suardi Rosi.
Her husband found her belongings, which raised suspicions. Villagers then searched the area and soon spotted a python with a large belly, Suardi said.
“They agreed to cut open the python’s stomach. As soon as they did, Farida’s head was immediately visible,” he added.
Farida was found fully clothed inside the snake.
Although such incidents are extremely rare, several people in Indonesia have died in recent years after being swallowed by pythons.
Last year, residents in Tinanggea district, Southeast Sulawesi, killed an eight-meter python found strangling and eating a farmer.
In 2018, a 54-year-old woman was discovered inside a seven-meter python in Muna town, Southeast Sulawesi.
The year before, a farmer in West Sulawesi went missing and was later found inside a four-meter python at a palm oil plantation.
