Benue varsity suspends SUG President Over Allegations of Misconduct and Fund Misappropriation

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Benue State, has indefinitely suspended its president, Comrade Tivkaa Evelyn Terwanger, over serious allegations including forgery, criminal impersonation, gross misconduct, and misappropriation of union funds.

The suspension was unanimously approved during a plenary session of the SUG Parliament held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Following the decision, the parliament ordered Comrade Terwanger to immediately hand over all Students’ Union properties in her possession to the Union’s Vice President, Comrade Ogberu Emmanuel Abi, who will assume the role of Acting President while investigations are ongoing.

In an official statement, the SUG Parliament warned members of the public and university community against engaging in any official business with Comrade Terwanger in the capacity of SUG president.

The parliament reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the welfare of the student body, stating that the suspension was necessary to uphold the integrity of the union.
