Group Calls on Nasarawa Speaker to Address Deteriorating Facilities at GSS Agwada
A sociocultural group in Nasarawa State, known as Afo Youth Mobility (AYM), has expressed deep concern regarding the deteriorating condition of Government Secondary School (GSS), Agwada. In a statement issued on Saturday morning by its chairman, Barrister Dauda Kana, AYM urged the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Danladi Jatau, to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to rehabilitate the state-owned boarding school.
The group highlighted that GSS Agwada, which serves as the only accessible public secondary school for underprivileged children in Agwada, Kokona Local Government Area, has suffered a significant decline. It pointed out that the school’s original infrastructure was lost with the establishment of Command Secondary School, Agwada, leaving it with makeshift structures and inadequate facilities.
According to the statement, students at GSS Agwada are enduring substandard living conditions due to dilapidated hostels, non-functional toilets, and deficient cooking facilities. AYM emphasized that these challenges have contributed to a decline in enrollment and a reduction in the quality of education available to the community’s youth.
The group called for urgent intervention to improve the academic environment at GSS Agwada, aiming to restore it to a standard that ensures quality education and dignified living conditions for its students.
