Don Jazzy Reveals Why He Left His Car with UK Police After It Was Impounded
Nigerian music producer and executive Don Jazzy has addressed claims about a police case he faced in the United Kingdom during the early days of his career.
The revelation came after his former associate, Bankulli, alleged that Don Jazzy evaded the law following a car accident in London. Bankulli claimed that Don Jazzy removed the vehicle’s number plate and fled the scene to avoid police action.
“I refused to put a particular story about Don Jazzy in the Afrobeats documentary. Because Don Jazzy was trying to survive in London, he had an accident and the car got destroyed. Don Jazzy abandoned the car. He was coming from a show and he fell asleep while driving and crashed his car. He left the car, removed the plate number and ran away,” Bankulli said.
Some social media users expressed concern that the case could be reopened if Don Jazzy visited the UK following Bankulli’s remarks.
Responding to the claims, Don Jazzy reassured fans, saying he did not evade the police. He explained that he waited for authorities, underwent a breathalyser test, and was cleared of any wrongdoing. The car was impounded because the fine to retrieve it exceeded its value, prompting him to leave it with the authorities.
“Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly. I actually waited for the police. They came and gave me a breathalyser to determine if I was drunk. I wasn’t, but the car was impounded. The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car, so I left it with them lol,” Don Jazzy wrote.
