Armed Herdsmen Abduct Bus Passengers in Ambush on Makurdi–Naka Road

Panic gripped commuters on Sunday following the abduction of several passengers by suspected armed herdsmen along the Makurdi–Naka highway in Benue State.

According to eyewitness accounts, a commercial vehicle traveling from Makurdi to Naka was ambushed before reaching its destination. The attackers reportedly stopped the vehicle and forcibly led all passengers into the surrounding bushes at gunpoint. The number of abducted passengers is yet to be confirmed.

Reacting to the incident, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Edet Udeme, stated that she had not received an official report on the matter but promised to investigate and provide updates as soon as possible.

The Makurdi–Naka road has witnessed several security concerns in recent times, raising fears among residents and travelers in the area.
