Kebbi School Abduction Won’t Turn Into Another Chibok Girls Saga — Senator Maidoki
Senator Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, has described the recent abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Maga as a “most unfortunate week,” vowing that the incident will not become another Chibok-style tragedy.
In an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, Maidoki said the attack brought insecurity “right into the middle” of his constituency.
Gunmen stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the early hours of Monday, November 17, killing the Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, injuring a school guard, and abducting 25 students.
Maidoki visited the community shortly after the attack to console affected families and assured them of ongoing efforts to secure the girls’ safe return. “We will work with the government and security agencies to ensure these children are brought back home. This will not be like the Chibok girls,” he said.
The senator added that security was a primary focus during his election campaign and pledged stronger collaboration with authorities to safeguard schools across his district.
