Two Killed in Fresh Attack by Suspected Fulani Herdsmen in Benue Communities
Suspected Fulani herdsmen have launched yet another deadly attack in Benue State, killing two villagers in what has been described as an unprovoked assault.
The attack occurred on Tuesday night in Uikpam and Mbabai communities, both located in Guma Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the communities and opened fire on residents, leaving at least two people dead.
The victims have been identified as Francis Nomsoor and a patent medicine dealer known simply as Kelvin. Witnesses say Kelvin was shot inside his shop and was being rushed to Daudu for medical treatment when he died from his injuries.
Nomsoor’s body was reportedly recovered by security operatives after the attackers had retreated.
Sources say security personnel had previously been deployed to the area in response to earlier incidents but were withdrawn shortly before the latest attack.
The fresh violence adds to the wave of insecurity that has continued to plague communities across Benue, especially in Guma LGA, which has suffered repeated attacks from armed herdsmen.
