Police Arrest Suspect After Soldier Allegedly Stabs Man to Death in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Tijani Uzairu in connection with the murder of a mechanic, Chukwu Chukwudi, at the Kugbo mechanic village in Abuja.

Following the incident, NIGERIA NEWS 247 reported a riot at the mechanic village along the Keffi-Abuja road on Thursday. Chukwudi was allegedly stabbed to death by a soldier during an argument, after which the suspect and his accomplices fled.

According to a statement from FCT Police Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh, Tijani and four other suspects, who remain at large, had brought a vehicle for repairs before the incident. Adeh noted that Chukwudi was stabbed in the neck with a dagger by one of the suspects.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives from Karu Division mobilized to the scene where Tijani Uzairu, who accompanied the other suspects, was arrested. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

“The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter, and normalcy has since been restored. He also advises the public to shun all acts of violence, noting that the consequences are often dire and regrettable,” the statement added.
