President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed recent rumours about his critical illness while abroad, clarifying that he merely took a brief vacation in London.

Akpabio arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, early Monday morning, appearing healthy and energetic. He was warmly received at the Presidential Wing by senators, aides, and supporters.

Speaking to journalists upon arrival, the Senate President stated, “There’s nothing like such. I’m fit as a fiddle. I only stopped over in London for a short vacation.”

In recent days, social media reports claimed that Akpabio was hospitalised in London; however, he described these stories as baseless rumours.

He explained that after attending the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 29 to 31, he went to London for a short rest following a demanding legislative year.

Akpabio also assured Nigerians of more robust legislative activities when the National Assembly resumes. He emphasized the importance of Nigeria’s strong delegation at the Geneva conference and promised enhanced democratic governance and closer collaboration between the legislature, executive, and judiciary branches.
