Gov. Mutfwang Presents N914.8 Billion 2026 Budget Estimate to Plateau State Assembly

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has presented a budget estimate of N914,863,422,871 to the State House of Assembly for the 2026 fiscal year.

Speaking on Wednesday, Governor Mutfwang described the budget as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to people-oriented projects, emphasizing sustainable development and continuity in governance.

Dubbed the “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0,” the proposed budget comprises:

  • Recurrent expenditure: N341,409,608,929 (37.32% of the total budget)

  • Capital expenditure: N573,453,813,942 (62.68% of the total budget)

The 2026 budget represents an increase of N306,686,896,939.07 over the 2025 approved budget.

Governor Mutfwang said the administration remains committed to serving the people of Plateau State and addressing challenges such as insecurity, working closely with security agencies to maintain law and order.

He noted that the budget aligns with the Plateau State Strategic Development Framework (2023–2027), which rests on three pillars: Peace, Security, and Good Governance; Sustainable Economic Rebirth; and Physical Infrastructure Development.

The administration’s developmental priorities for 2026 include:

  • Agriculture and Rural Development

  • Mining and Mineral Development

  • Industry, Trade, Investment, and Tourism

  • Health and Education (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary)

  • Youth, Sports, Women, and Social Development

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

  • Infrastructure: Roads, transport, water, waste management, housing, urban planning, power, and energy

The projected revenue sources for the 2026 budget include internally generated revenue, the government’s share of FAAC, AIDS, grants, and the Capital Development Fund (CDF).

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the government has earmarked several projects for the fiscal year, with N573.45 billion (62.93%) allocated for capital projects to enhance service delivery and ensure citizens benefit more from democracy.
