The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended efforts to rescue victims of recent abductions in Kwara and Niger States.

In a post on his verified X account on Monday, Obi wrote: “It is gratifying to receive some positive news on the rescue of the 38 abducted victims from the Eruku Church attack in Kwara State, as well as the escape of about 50 students from the Catholic Private School in Niger State. I would like to commend the security agencies and all those who played a role in this refreshing development. But there should be no room for complacency.”

NIGERIA NEWS 247 reports that at least 50 students kidnapped from St Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area in Niger State, reportedly escaped and have been reunited with their parents. Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed the release of 38 people abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area.
