Shettima Vows Full Effort in Rescue of Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls

Vice President Kashim Shettima has condemned the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga village, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, describing the incident as a national tragedy.

Speaking during a visit to the state, Shettima assured residents that the Federal Government is fully committed to securing the safe return of the 25 kidnapped girls.

“Kebbi’s pain is Nigeria’s pain,” he said, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to ongoing rescue efforts.

The Vice President affirmed that all necessary federal and state security resources will be mobilized to ensure the girls’ safe recovery. He also extended condolences and pledged support to the family of the late Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, who reportedly lost his life while trying to protect the students.

Shettima praised the Nigerian military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their roles in the rescue operations so far.

He was accompanied on the visit by key government officials, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, the Minister of Women Affairs, and the APC National Chairman.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, expressed gratitude to the Vice President and President Tinubu, stating that he remains confident in the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the state.
