The Yobe State House of Assembly has called on the state government to take urgent and proactive steps to address the alarming spread of kidney disease across the state.

The call was made during Wednesday’s plenary session through a motion of urgent public importance, jointly sponsored by Hon. Sadiq Yahaya (Bade West) and Hon. Buba Maina Sale (Tarmuwa). The lawmakers expressed deep concern over the rising number of kidney disease cases, emphasizing the need for immediate investigation to determine the root cause of the health crisis.

They noted that while kidney disease had previously been concentrated in the northern part of Yobe, recent developments indicate that it is now spreading to other local government areas, describing the trend as deeply troubling.

Several lawmakers, including Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo (Karasuwa), Hon. Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa (Damaturu II), Hon. Bukar Mustapha (Geidam Central), and Hon. Digma Maina Gana (Damagum), supported the motion and described it as timely and crucial.
