Datti Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu Has “Tried” to Keep Shettima as VP

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has remarked that President Bola Tinubu has made efforts to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for this long.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time program on Thursday night, Baba-Ahmed addressed ongoing speculation that Shettima may not be chosen again for the 2027 elections.

He hinted at undisclosed issues involving Shettima, saying, “Whoever knows what Shettima did and does will not allow him to last this long. The airwaves cannot carry it.”

Baba-Ahmed added, “I know Tinubu has tried to keep Shettima this long. Even the consideration that he should be dropped—I think Tinubu has tried. It’s a pregnant statement. I wish I could say more.”

He concluded by emphasizing how far people will go for power, calling it “unbelievable.”
