Hezbollah Launches Rockets at Tel Aviv, IDF Remains on High Alert in Gaza After Simhat Torah Attack
REPORT, NIGERIA NEWS 247 – As Israelis began to mark the beginning of Simhat Torah on Wednesday night, several rockets launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon triggered sirens in Tel Aviv and various towns across central Israel.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), four rockets were launched during this attack, with two intercepted, one landing in an open area, and the fourth striking an undisclosed location. Throughout the day, approximately 135 rockets were fired at Israel, predominantly targeting northern regions, but fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
Palestinian media noted that one of the rockets, or debris from an interceptor, landed in the village of Ras Atiya near the West Bank security barrier, causing damage to vehicles and lightly injuring one Palestinian.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for hitting a military factory in the Tel Aviv suburbs. In response, the IDF ordered its troops along the Gaza Strip border to remain on high alert amid concerns of possible attacks by Hamas, especially given the anniversary of its October 7, 2023 onslaught, which coincides with the Simhat Torah holiday.
This time last year, the holiday was marked by a tragic attack from Hamas, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 individuals, mostly civilians, and the abduction of 251 people to Gaza.
Similar precautions had been taken for the Gregorian calendar anniversary earlier this month, when Hamas, despite significant losses, managed to fire a few rockets into Israel. However, these recent attacks were a fraction of their previous capabilities.
