US Visa Applications

The United States government has announced that Nigerian visa applicants must now include their social media usernames and handles from all platforms they have used in the past five years.

This new requirement will be part of the DS-160 visa application form, the US Mission in Nigeria confirmed in a statement on Monday morning.

The statement warned that failure to provide accurate social media information could result in visa denial and affect eligibility for future visa applications.

It read in part:
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.”
