Islamic Groups in Kano Protest Trump’s Claims of Christian Genocide in Nigeria

Islamic groups in Kano State staged protests on Saturday against recent comments by US President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security situation.

The demonstrators rejected Trump’s claims of a Christian genocide in the country, carrying placards with messages such as:

• “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria”

• “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria”

• “America wants to control our resources”

The protests come after Trump designated Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, citing alleged persecution of Christians, and warned that the US military could intervene if the Nigerian government failed to address the killings.

The Nigerian government has denied the allegations, describing claims of Christian genocide as false.
