Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has started a fresh round of project commissioning and flag-offs in Abuja, following a 16-day spree that ended in early July 2025.

On Tuesday, August 19, Wike is set to commission the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council. This upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to boost the city’s water infrastructure.

Additionally, the Minister will flag off construction and expansion works to extend water supply to satellite towns, beginning with Bwari Township. The following day, the expansion to Karu town and its environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council will be launched.

These initiatives build on the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project commissioned in June 2025. The new phases stem from agreements made during President Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, aimed at improving water access in growing communities like Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.
