Nigerian Army Troops Neutralise 24 Insurgents in Coordinated Operations Across Borno, Adamawa
Nigerian Army troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed 24 Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in a series of coordinated ambushes and clearance operations conducted between July 4 and 9 across Borno and parts of Adamawa States.
Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at OPHK’s Theatre Command, confirmed the development in a statement issued Wednesday in Maiduguri. He said the operations, carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, are part of ongoing efforts to maintain pressure on insurgent hideouts and restore peace in the region.
According to Kovangiya, the multi-day operations began on July 4, when troops ambushed insurgents on bicycles near Platari as they moved from the Sambisa Forest toward the Timbuktu Triangle, killing three. On the same day, another insurgent was neutralised in the Komala area, with troops recovering motorcycles, spare parts, pesticides, and food items.
That night, two more terrorists were killed in an ambush at Kawuri, Konduga LGA, while attempting to transport logistics. Recovered supplies included food condiments, salt, and detergents.
On July 5, troops foiled an attempted incursion by insurgents into the Madarari IDP camp in Konduga, killing one and seizing several rounds of ammunition. During a fighting patrol in Leno Kura, three more insurgents were killed in a crossfire.
Operations continued on July 6 with a night ambush between Ngoshe–Gava, Ngoshe–Ashigashiya, and Amuda–Gava, where one terrorist was killed and others fled.
On July 7, troops intercepted logistics suppliers near Sabsawa village, neutralising two insurgents and recovering bicycles, torches, slippers, batteries, and other items.
July 8 saw joint clearance operations at Bula Marwa—an ISWAP and Boko Haram stronghold—with one terrorist killed and camp infrastructure destroyed. In a separate raid that same day in Pambula village, Madagali LGA, Adamawa State, troops and local hunters killed another insurgent and recovered four motorcycles and a dane gun.
Troops continued the Bula Marwa clearance on July 9, killing another insurgent. In joint operations with CJTF, they cleared terrorist enclaves at Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, eliminating three insurgents and seizing six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Additional ambushes in Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages resulted in the deaths of six more terrorists, carried out in collaboration with hybrid forces.
“These successes highlight the resilience, coordination, and synergy between our ground forces, air support, and local partners,” Kovangiya stated. “The neutralisation of 24 insurgents demonstrates our commitment to degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring normalcy in the North East.”
