“I Can End Banditry in Zamfara in 2 Months If Given Control of Security Agencies” – Gov Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has declared that insecurity in the state would be eradicated within two months if he were granted full control over the security agencies operating in the region.

In a viral video, Governor Lawal expressed deep frustration over his limited authority as a state governor, saying that despite knowing the whereabouts of bandit leaders, he is powerless to take decisive action without the necessary control over security forces.

“I swear to Almighty Allah, I know the location of every bandit leader in Zamfara State. With my mobile phone, I can show you exactly where these bandits are operating today. But beyond that, we cannot act because we lack the power,” he said.

The governor recounted a recent incident where bandits attacked Shinkafi Local Government Area, but security operatives were unable to respond promptly as they awaited orders from Abuja.

“If I had the authority to command the security agencies directly, I assure you that banditry in Zamfara would be wiped out within two months,” Lawal said.

He added emotionally, “Many times I shed tears for my people because I see the problems they face. Yet, without control over security operatives, I am powerless to act swiftly.”
