Police Officer, Civilian JTF Member Killed in Zamfara Bandit Ambush

A police officer and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have been killed following an ambush by armed bandits in the Mada district of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when the security operatives, deployed under “Operation Restore Peace,” were ambushed near Fegin Mahe village.

Sources said the joint team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, during which a police officer from the Tudun Wada Division and a Civilian JTF member lost their lives.

“The NCO’s service rifle was also taken by the bandits during the confrontation,” one of the sources confirmed.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau. Security has reportedly been intensified in the area following the incident.
