SSANU, NASU Members Confront Security Personnel During Unity Fountain Protest

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) are currently protesting at Unity Fountain in Abuja over the non-payment of their four-month salaries.

The protest is being led by SSANU President Mohammed Aruna Ibrahim and NASU General Secretary Comrade Peters Adeyemi.

Both unions are frustrated that, despite a presidential directive for the payment of the four-month arrears, only members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) received their salaries, leaving SSANU and NASU members unpaid.

A minor confrontation occurred at Unity Fountain when security personnel prevented the protesters from leaving the gathering point.
