Fuel Price Hike: Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Cost by N100 Per Liter Nationwide
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a ₦100 per liter increase in the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) nationwide.
The company disclosed the adjustment in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the gantry price of petrol has risen to ₦799 per liter, while the retail price now stands at ₦839 per liter. This represents an increase from the previous prices of ₦699 and ₦739 per liter, respectively, which had been in place since December 2025.
“Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is ₦799 per liter, while MRS retail outlets are selling at ₦839 per liter,” the company stated.
Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the refinery continues to supply the domestic market with approximately 50 million liters of PMS daily, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution operations remain normal.
Meanwhile, industry data indicate that Dangote Refinery recently turned to petrol imports to boost supply amid downtime at its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC), according to Kpler.
As of Monday night, petrol prices at retail filling stations, including those operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), ranged between ₦805 and ₦830 per liter.
Market analysts warn that Dangote’s latest price adjustment could trigger a broader increase in petrol prices across Nigeria’s downstream sector.
In December, the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, had stated that the ₦739 per liter retail price would be maintained nationwide to undercut fuel importers. Speaking with journalists at the time, Dangote said, “We don’t want people to sell petrol for more than ₦740 nationwide.”
