Naira Records First Appreciation of the Week at Official FX Market
The Naira on Thursday posted its first appreciation of the week against the U.S. dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the currency strengthened to ₦1,441.44 per dollar, an improvement from ₦1,443.08 recorded on Wednesday. This reflects a day-on-day gain of ₦1.64.
At the black market, however, the Naira traded flat at ₦1,465 per dollar, the same rate maintained on Wednesday.
NIGERIA NEWS 247 notes that aside from Thursday’s slight recovery, the Naira had experienced a bearish run throughout the week, with its sharpest depreciation occurring on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, CBN data indicates that Nigeria’s foreign reserves continued their upward trend, rising to $43.42 billion as of November 12, 2025, up from $43.39 billion the previous day.
