54-year-old Businesswoman Fatally Shot by Unknown Gunmen in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that it has launched an investigation into the death of Olakunbi Adene, a 54-year-old woman who was found dead in her residence on Oda Road in Akure, the state capital.

Adene’s body was discovered on her bed in a pool of blood on Sunday, suggesting she was murdered. Just days earlier, she had celebrated her 54th birthday with guests.

According to a source in the area, Adene, who had two children, appeared healthy and showed no signs of illness before her sudden death.

Her husband, Dele Adene, expressed shock over the news and disappointment that no arrests had been made. He stated, “I was informed that my wife’s body was found in a pool of blood, indicating she was hacked to death. I cannot believe no arrests have been made so far. Her phone should be tracked, and it’s concerning that no one in the building, which has four apartments, noticed anything.”

The deceased’s daughter, Tejumade, recounted how she learned of the tragedy: “I returned from church and tried calling her, but her phone was off. Later, my uncle called to inform me that my mother had been killed.”

The body has been taken to a mortuary in Akure.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. “I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” she said.
