The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, on Monday arraigned an accountant, Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, alongside his company, Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, over the alleged theft of N200 million belonging to Travelstar Web Logistics Limited.

Nkwachukwu, a former accountant at the firm, is facing a 13-count charge bordering on stealing, contrary to Sections 280(1)(b), 280(2)(f), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

According to the EFCC, the defendant, acting through his company, allegedly misappropriated $36,000 entrusted to him by Travelstar Web Logistics Limited. He is also accused of dishonestly diverting an additional $156,000 from the company’s funds for personal use.

In response, defence counsel, Kelvin C. Uzozie, informed the court of a pending bail application, appealing for the defendant to remain in EFCC custody rather than being sent to prison.
