Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has announced the arrest of seven suspects linked to the alleged murder of Mojisola Awesu, a 21-year-old graduate of Kwara State College of Health Technology.

Mojisola, who had been invited to Ilorin by Adebayo Happiness, a dismissed student from Summit University, Offa, to act as his girlfriend at a party for a fee of N15,000, was found murdered in a hotel on August 9, 2024.

During a press briefing at the police headquarters in Ilorin, Olaiya revealed that those apprehended include the prime suspect, Adebayo Happiness, his parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi, as well as Miss Kolawola Timileyin, who connected Mojisola with Happiness. The hotel workers arrested are Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Amina, and Bulus Peter.

The police chief detailed that after the crime, Happiness returned to Offa and hid the victim’s stolen phone in his hostel wardrobe. Following a thorough investigation, the suspect’s parents were apprehended for attempting to alter evidence. Mrs. Adeniyi was found to have removed the victim’s SIM card and concealed it in a wall, despite the suspect’s claim of discarding the phone in a river.

Further investigation revealed that hotel staff had discovered and unlawfully disposed of Mojisola’s body.

Olaiya assured the public that the Kwara State Police Command is dedicated to pursuing justice and maintaining community safety. The suspects will face legal action upon completion of the investigation.
