ASR Africa starts construction of lecture halls worth US$100 million for University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State through their Tertiary Education Grants Scheme.

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has initiated the construction of four lecture halls at the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on the university campus today. This initiative is part of a grant awarded to the University of Uyo through the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grants Scheme, which is funded by ASR Africa’s US$100 million Fund for Social Development and Renewal.

Prof. Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo, the Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed gratitude to ASR Africa for selecting the University of Uyo as a beneficiary of the Tertiary Education Grant Scheme. He emphasized the importance of constructing these lecture halls and urged for their swift completion to facilitate the institution’s use. Prof. Ndaeyo also thanked Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Chairman of ASR Africa, for his support to tertiary institutions across the country.

Dr. Ubon Udoh, the MD CEO of ASR Africa, commended the management of the University of Uyo for their cooperation in the project. He reaffirmed Abdul Samad Rabiu’s commitment to enhancing quality education in Nigerian and African tertiary institutions. Dr. Udoh encouraged the students to maximize the benefits of the new facility upon its completion.

To date, more than 27 public and private Nigerian universities and higher learning institutions have received support from the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grants. Beneficiaries include the University of Maiduguri, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, the University of Ilorin, the University of Benin, and the University of Ibadan, among others.
