Kano Governor Signs Bill to Establish Gaya Polytechnic, Boost Education in State

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Friday signed a bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic, a move aimed at expanding access to tertiary education and technical skills training in the state.

The signing took place at the Government House, Kano, with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butubutu in attendance.

According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the bill follows recommendations from a 14-member committee tasked with overseeing the polytechnic’s establishment. Once operational, the institution is expected to provide vocational and technical training for youths and boost local job creation.

Officials said the initiative is part of the state government’s plan to strengthen educational infrastructure and support socio-economic development in Gaya and neighboring communities.
