Nigerian Government Considers NYSC-like Program for NCE Graduates

The Federal Government plans to introduce a training program similar to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for graduates of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Wisdom, shared this during the opening of the BEMORE OYO 2024 Summer Bootcamp in Ibadan on Monday.

Wisdom mentioned that the Ministry of Youth Development would collaborate with the Ministry of Education to implement reforms, including NYSC-like training for NCE graduates and others.

He emphasized that youth-focused training by groups like the Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guides has historically kept many young people away from social vices.

“The main priority of the ministry is citizenship and training, and we are bringing that back. We have NYSC for university graduates, but what about NCE holders? We’re planning training that can take place within their own states and camps,” Wisdom added. He stressed that these reforms aim to bring renewed hope to the youth of Nigeria.
