The wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed in Lagos to make a positive impact for the growth of both Lagos and Nigeria.

She made this statement yesterday during an interactive session with the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the NYSC scheme has been instrumental in promoting youth engagement and upholding the vision of its founders, who believed in a unified Nigeria despite its diverse languages, cultures, and religions. She praised the corps members for their resilience and patriotic spirit in serving the nation, noting their dedication to enduring the challenges of the orientation program and adhering to its rules and regulations.

“Your decision to serve Nigeria through this programme reflects your commitment towards making a positive impact in society,” she said.

During the session, Dr. Sanwo-Olu also informed the corps members about the initiatives her office is undertaking to improve the quality of life in Lagos State. She highlighted her current project, ‘War against Drug Abuse in Lagos State,’ stressing the urgent need for public support to amplify the campaign’s messages and extend its reach, given the alarming rate of drug abuse.

NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, described Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s visit as a source of motivation and inspiration for the corps members. She expressed gratitude to the state government for prioritizing issues concerning the scheme and reiterated that the program will continue to contribute to the nation’s development.
