Twelve state-owned tertiary institutions have uploaded their students’ data to the student loan application portal, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced.

In a statement by NELFUND’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Nasir Ayitogo, the organization confirmed the expansion after verifying the completeness and accuracy of the submitted data from these institutions.

On Monday, 36 additional state-owned tertiary institutions joined the scheme, successfully uploading their students’ data to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS). This brings the total number of participating state-owned institutions to 48, up from the initial 36. The data from 121 institutions is still outstanding, according to the statement.

While visiting the Governor of Osun State in Oshogbo on Tuesday, NELFUND Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, expressed his gratitude to all who have submitted their data so far. He gave special recognition to Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for his exemplary leadership.

The Fund urges all institutions that have not yet submitted their students’ data to the Student Verification Portal (SVS) to do so promptly, enabling their students to benefit from the scheme. Additionally, it encourages states with captured and uploaded data to inform their students about applying for the loan, which will provide financial relief to students and secure revenue for the institutions.

Students from the participating state government-owned tertiary institutions can now visit www.nelf.gov.ng to apply for the loan.
