Bobrisky, also known as Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, has been sentenced to six months in prison without the option of a fine for abusing the Nigerian currency, the naira.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos handed down the sentence, aiming to deter others from similar actions.

Bobrisky, when asked about his gender, affirmed he is a man before being sent to serve his term at Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

The judge specified that the jail term would start from March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest. Bobrisky pleaded guilty to four counts of naira abuse brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court adjourned for sentencing, which was delayed due to a public holiday. The charges outlined instances where Bobrisky tampered with various sums of money during social events, leading to violations of the Central Bank Act, 2007.
